Flu season natural remedies
It's flu and cold season, so I figured I would send out my favorite natural remedies to prevent, fight and keep off a nasty cold. I hope this may be useful to you!
Citrus booster:
1 navel orange juiced plus the pulp
½ a lemon
½ grapefruit
1 heaping tsp grated ginger
1 ½ tsp turmeric powder
Juice the orange and half of a grapefruit and save the pulp removing the seeds. Juice half of a lemon. Grate a piece of ginger or use ginger powder. Add all ingredients to a blender and blend on high for a few seconds. Serve and drink right away.
Spicy broth:
3 or 4 cups water
1 tbsp yellow miso paste
½ tbsp veggie broth
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 green onion
½ tsp turmeric powder
1 handful of parsley
Bring water to a boil, add green onions and let simmer. Turn off the heat and add miso paste and broth. Top with turmeric and cayenne powders. Add a handful of chopped parsley
Revitalizing bath:
3 drops of lavender essential oil
2 drops of eucalyptus essential oil
Epson salts
Steamy hot water
Tea tree oil vapors:
3 drops of tea tree oil
Steamy hot water
Towel to cover the face
Supplements:
Take zinc, potassium and vitamin c supplements.
I like to eat a spoonful of propolis, elderberry syrup and take 4-6 Wellness Formulas on the days I'm sick.
Lifestyle:
Sleep as many naps as you can.
Go to bed very early, and put a shirt over your head.
Use a humidifier with a few added drops of eucalyptus essential oil.
Neti pot in the morning with saltwater.
Drink plenty of water with added minerals.
Stay off screens as much as possible.
Rest your body and do restorative yoga postures to open up circulation and remove stagnation.
If you have a sore throat you can do baking soda and water or apple cider vinegar throat rinses.
